Participation in hunts in the forests of Landesforst MV

We offer interested hunters the opportunity to participate in hunts in the administrative hunting districts of Landesforst MV (Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania State Forestry). If you are interested in hunting in the form of a single shoot, in an annual hunting license or a temporary hunting license, or in participating in a scheduled hunt - the staff at the forestry offices will be happy to inform you of the options, details and costs.

The temporary hunting permit allows hunting in a stalking district for a period of three days to several weeks. They are granted directly by the forestry offices upon application. The permit fee is determined on the basis of the duration of the hunting permit and the species of hoofed game present.

Category I roe deer, mouflon and wild boar

  • Three days €100.00
  • One week (up to seven days) €200.00
  • Each additional week €100.00

Category II roe deer, mouflon, wild boar as well as fallow deer and/or red deer

  • Three days €200.00
  • One week (up to seven days) €300.00
  • Each additional week €100.00

All fees are subject to statutory VAT
Within the context of the shooting plan for private hunting grounds, male and female hoofed game in age classes 0 and 1 as well as predators and game birds are approved.

An annual hunting permit allows the holder to hunt as a hunting guest in a State of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania administrative hunting district throughout the entire hunting year. In principle, they are issued by the forestry office for territory-free hunters, whereby the hunters must ensure that they meet the requirements imposed upon them by the hunting administration. In the case of scheduled hunts, holders of an annual hunting permit subject to fee are exempt from paying a stand fee at the forestry office issuing the permit.
The application for an annual hunting permit is to be informally submitted to the desired forestry office. As the hunt master, the head of the forestry office decides independently on the granting of hunting permits. A legal entitlement to this does not exist.
The permit fee is determined on the basis of the game species present and the hunting capacity of the private hunting grounds to which the hunting guest is admitted. For youths up to the age of 21, the fee is reduced by fifty from one hundred.
The following categories apply:

A: Private hunting grounds on which ground game, predators, roe deer, wild boar and mouflon may be killed from €600.00
Hare, game birds, predators

  • Roe deer (all age classes)
  • Wild boar (all age classes)
  • Mouflon (though only ewes, young sheep, lambs and yearlings)

B: Private hunting grounds on which, in addition to the game types mentioned in A, red deer and fallow deer may also be killed from €800.00
Category B: as in Category A plus

  • red and fallow deer hinds, prickets and fawns,
  • Red and fallow stags up to and including age class 2

If the shooting quotas are correspondingly high, in the case of ruminant hoofed game species, it is possible to be granted a maximum reduction of 50% in the annual hunting permit fee for the following year.
(All fees subject to statutory VAT)

Scheduled hunts are organized by the forestry offices to regulate game stocks. Upon request, hunting guests can participate in these hunts for a fee (stand fee). The forestry office decides on participation in scheduled hunts within the context of what is possible. A legal entitlement to this does not exist.
The following game can be approved for shooting on a scheduled hunt by the hunt master:

  • predators
  • female hoofed game as well as
  • male hoofed game in age classes 0, 1 and 2.
Hunting guests must pay a stand fee in the amount of at least € 50.00 per day of hunting to the responsible forestry office. Statutory VAT is included in this amount. The stand fee includes the cost of the kill for all approved female game and male game in age classes 0 and 1 as well as predators.
The following are exempt from paying a stand fee:
  • Guests of Landesforst MV (Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania State Forestry)
  • Holders of an annual hunting permit for the relevant forestry office issuing the permit
  • Employees of state forestry authorities
  • Former employees of the state forestry administration who have retired from service
  • Certain hunting guests as determined by the hunt master, whose participation is required in order to hold the scheduled hunt

Safety regulations for scheduled hunts
In terms of preventive safety measures, the following safety regulations apply for hunting in the State of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's administrative hunting districts.
In the case of scheduled hunts (more than two shooters), all parties participating in the hunt must wear colours that clearly distinguish them from their surroundings. The following apply as clear distinctions:

  • Drivers, dog handlers and other hunting hands must wear yellow or orange-red signal-coloured upper body clothing or chest and back bibs
  • Driver and walk-up shooters must wear yellow or orange-red signal-coloured upper body clothing or chest and back bibs as well as orange-red signal-coloured headgear or a signal-coloured hat band
  • Stand shooters must wear yellow or orange-red signal-coloured upper body clothing or chest and back bibs as well as orange-red signal-coloured headgear or a signal-coloured hat band
Each shooter is to provide his/her own signal clothing.

In the state's administrative hunting districts, it is possible to participate in individual parts of the hunt as a hunting guest. With the exception of the permit for single shoots of red and fallow deer in age classes 3 and 4, in principle even when an application is submitted for a one-day hunting permit or for a specific game species and age class, a temporary hunting permit must be issued.
Single shoot permits are granted directly by the forestry offices upon application. A legal entitlement to this does not exist. The hunting guests are integrated into the forestry office's normal hunting organization and, if a shoot is permitted, guided for mature game (trophies) in age classes 3 and 4 for the red and fallow deer game species.
Upon request, a guide can be provided for a fee in the case of other game species for mature game (trophies) from age class 2.
In the administrative hunting districts, it is possible to hunt male red and fallow deer in age classes 3 and 4 as a guest within the context of single shoot permits.
Before hunting male red deer in age classes 3 and 4, an admission fee of €500.00 plus statutory VAT is to be paid. Before hunting male fallow deer in age classes 3 and 4, an admission fee in the amount of €300.00 plus statutory VAT is to be paid. In the case of a successful hunt, a hunting management costs contribution plus statutory VAT is to be paid.
If, at his/her own request, the hunting guest kills another game animal with the approval of the head of the forestry office instead of the animal applied for, the admission fee shall not be offset.
The admission fee is to be paid within seven days of a kill, a missed shot, the unsuccessful search for an animal wounded by the hunting guest or ten hunting hides. Admission fees shall not be refunded if the intended hunt is not carried out.
The killing by the permit holder of seriously ill game or game not seriously wounded by the permit holder shall not affect the right to single shoots. In such a case, however, the trophy can be purchased against payment of the hunt management costs contribution.
In principle, hunting guests are to be guided when hunting male red and fallow deer in age classes 3 and 4. The guide's fee for the first five hides is included in the admission fee. If, at his/her own request, the hunting guest is guided for other game, €50.00 plus statutory VAT is to be paid for each guided hour commenced.

Landesforst MV (Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania State Forestry) is obliged to set an example in regard to compliance with the laws on hunting and the practical execution of hunts, particularly in relation to safety, animal welfare and game hygiene.
Therefore, Landesforst MV demands that all participating hunters provide proof of continued and adequate upkeep of their shooting skills once per year. In accordance with the hunter examination regulations for Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, a roe buck target and a running male boar are shot with rifle cartridges approved for wild boar. The targets and rings to be hit are not specified.
Certificate can be obtained at all shooting ranges approved for game shooting as well as at shooting simulators. This is confirmed by the competent shooting instructor in a shooting certificate booklet. We recommend bringing your hunting license. For hunting guests, proof of shooting skills is a condition for participating in hunts in Landesforst MV.

Use of lead-free ammunition

In the interest of ensuring the provision of safe game to consumers that is free of lead residues as a result of shooting wild game, from the 2014/2015 hunting year the use of hunting shot containing lead is not permitted in the administrative hunting districts of Landesforst MV (Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania State Forestry). This applies both for staff as well as for all third parties involved in hunting.
